Code Rules & Troubleshooting

Each SHiFT code normally works once per SHiFT account under the terms of its promotion. Expiry varies sharply: weekly Golden Key codes can last only a few days, while several cosmetic codes remain redeemable through December 31, 2030. If a code has no listed expiry, don't assume it's permanent unless the promotion specifically makes it permanent. Gearbox can close an undated promotion without advance notice.

If a code won't redeem, start by checking every letter, number, and hyphen. Confirm that your SHiFT account is linked to the platform where you own Borderlands 4, and make sure the code has not already been claimed for that account. If the website reports a failed redemption after accepting the code, relaunch the game and check SHiFT Rewards because Borderlands Support has documented cases where the reward still processes.

Do Borderlands 4 Golden Keys transfer with Cross-Platform Saves?
No. SHiFT code rewards such as Golden Keys do not move between platforms through Cross-Platform Saves. Redeem a Golden Key code for the platform where you want to use those keys.
Where do Golden Keys appear after I redeem a Borderlands 4 SHiFT code?
Golden Keys are added directly to your inventory rather than waiting in the Rewards tab for a manual claim. Open the Inventory and check the Currency section to see your current Golden Key total.
Where do Borderlands 4 cosmetic and gear rewards appear after redemption?
Open the in-game Inventory and select the Rewards tab located beneath ECHO-4 when unclaimed rewards are available. New rewards display an orange exclamation mark, and cosmetics can be viewed through Customization after they are claimed.
